Some kind words courtesy of Manchester rocks about our debut self titled EP (Oceans Black)
Liverpool has been known for bringing us some of the best rock and roll bands ever and the metal scene there has been interesting over the last few years. Oceans Black are four piece metal band formed in 2014 by James Hart (Guitar / Lead Vocals), Alex Harris (Guitar), Oli Hazarian (Bass / Backing Vocals), Jay Pipprell (Drums And Percussion) and have joined into the Liverpudlian music mix. Together they fuse elements of hard rock and classic heavy metal styles to create a new sound that is sure to please fans of the old school looking for a more modern interpretation. Already they have so much experience under their belts and are looking to continue their way in the industry.
Their debut self-titled EP is now up on their BandCamp page with great production they really have set their best foot forward with it so it’s something well worth picking up. It is filled with heartfelt, intricate and interesting tunes, slamming powerful riffs and a very commanding vocal performance from singer James Hart. There’s something special about them, as soon as I heard this EP I thought to myself that this was a band that I needed to hear now. The track that sold them to me was “Hope for Hope”, it’s very reminiscent of the post-grunge or alt-rock music that I listen to a lot as a kid so it instantly struck a chord. Anyone who’s a fan of this style of music will get a kick out of them.
Honestly the only bad thing I can say is that there isn’t more music for me to listen to as it fits very much into my taste in music. Can I say it’s for everyone? Well no… but if you’re in the mood for something familiar but new at the same time then Oceans Black are certainly a band you may want to check out.
They will be supporting Wilson at Manchester Sound Control, Monday 29th February. Definitely a band to catch!
