Earth, Wind & Fire is the best R & B band to exist! They used a multitude of music styles; soul, funk, Latin, African, jazz. A very dynamic band with great harmonizing vocals. This band has done so much in pioneering the way for black musicians, it is unacceptable to call EWF anything but Outstanding.

EWF has had a very successful career with so many album releases it is hard to pick just one as my favorite, but I will try :D

Oh and I like this album, too:

They are a great band, I only have a Greatest Hits compilation album, it has all the songs I really like...I might check out some others later, but right now I am just sorting my library, and don't want to add too much right now.;)

Re: Earth, Wind & Fire

I agree...with no disrespect to alot of other great R&B/Soul/Funk artists, EW&F is indeed the best. I've been a big fan since the mid-70's when a friend of mine turned me on to "Gratitude", one of my top few favorite live albums ever and definitely my favorite EW&F album. Gratitude is one of the few albums I've owned in four different formats (8-track, vinyl, cassette, and CD). EW&F is a great band with great vocals, a great rhythm section, SMOKIN' horn section, super high energy and a great overall message.

And Verdine White is a badass bass player.

You must be a big fan of that album Bucky, I've got a few like that in my collection, on my fourth copy or more.

I'll put Gratitude on my list.:grinthumb

From hearing the three tracks put in this thread I'm more familiar with them than I thought. They sound like one big funky party!

Re: Earth, Wind & Fire

This last September EWF performed live for the first time with a full orchestra at the Hollywood Bowl.........from all the videos I have seen, the show was excellent.

EWF was just inducted into the Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame June 17, 2010.

2011 will mark the 40th anniversay for Earth, Wind & Fire.
