ComfortablyNumb
Unquestionable Presence
So I went up to NYC last night to meet up with my friend and see Danzig. Her and myself are big fans of Danzig, Samhain, and The Misfits so we were both pretty stoked about the show and even the shitty weather (freezing rain/snow) could not tone that down.
We bought the tickets literally a few weeks after the Big 4 show since we heard they were going quick. Luckily we got floor tickets because honestly there is nothing that can compare IMO to being up close standing having crowdsurfing and moshpits going on. Plus you can move up closer if you want.
Anyway we got our shirts (wound up losing one later on) and then got a few beers before we would go down to the coat check.
The opening band I don't even remember and even if I did I would tell you I was not a fan of them. Next came C.O.C in their thrash line up. They blew me away and I was glad I finally got to see them because last year they cancelled the show I was going to go to. They tore through their set with more energy than the younger band that opened the show. I love the sludge/southern metal C.O.C, but they can not compare to this line up. They are a totally different beast. I love their albums, but IMO they are a much better live band because their albums can not capture the power they have live.
Finally the main reason for the concert. Danzig. He played some Danzig era songs (some I am not familiar with, Twist Of Cain, and How The Gods Kill). Next came the Samhain set which was great. (Unholy Passion, To Walk the Night, Mother of Mercy just to name a few.) Finally came the Misfits set and Doyle who was the guitarist for the Misfits and who is the brother of Jerry Only came out to play these songs. (Death Comes Ripping, Vampira, I Turned Into a Martian, Hollywood Babylon, Bullet, Halloween, Astro Zombies, Last Caress.) Next Danzig came back out to play Mother and ended the show with The Misfits Skulls.
By far the best concert of the year for me. It even topped the Big 4 which I thought would be near impossible. Just plain ****ing amazing. Sucks I have no pictures. My friend lost her camera and her cellphone which also had some pictures on it. Still even with losing a shirt, a camera, and a phone the night was amazing.
