One genre of music that doesn't have tons of cover versions is hip-hop. But some of my favorite cover songs are of hip-hop songs. Here's a few:

Tricky - "Black Steel"

Bone Thugs-n-Harmony - "F--- Tha Police"

Anthrax & Public Enemy - "Bring The Noise"

Battery - "Gangsta's Paradise"

Another song I enjoy more on the 2nd time around is Don McLean's "Castles in the Air", the original from his 1st album Tapestry is okay, though feels rushed:

He reprised the song in 1981 for the Believers album which feels looser and has a natural flow"

He performed this song twice though for this Concert back in 2000, though even back then I thought they both felt loose! :lmao:

Another song which The Yardbirds did in the 60s is "You're a Better Man than I":

In 2003 some original members of the Yardbirds got together with an all-star musical line-up and really nailed the song for me, though they got some of the best in the business I think to make this happen, for myself this was the 1st version I'd heard from the Birdland album:

However, if you'd asked me which take of "Happenings Ten Years Time Ago" I'd prefer, I'll still go with the 60s one, the Birdland Reprise isn't Bad, though the original also had Jimmy Page and Jeff Beck.
