Hi

I'm a sucker for box sets - so what are your fave box sets?

I don't have a lot of classic rock box sets, but here is a few of them, that I would recommend anyone, anytime:

AC/DC: Bonfire
Cheap Trick: Sex America Cheap Trick
Rush: Chronicles
Whitesnake: Chronicles
Kiss: Box Set
Rainbow: Catch The Rainbow (just a collection, not actually a box set)
Scorpions: Deadly Sting - The Mercury Years

And a box I'm looking forward to
Deep Purple: Listen Learn Read On

Any compilations you can recommend?

The two I like best are:

Led Zeppelin - 4 cd set although there other more complete boxed sets
Emerson Lake and Palmer - Return of the Manticore

Both older boxed sets but some great music.

I'd go with Deep Purple's SHADES 1968-1998 box. It has all kinds of out-takes and covers the band through the reunion and Steve Morse era. Listen, Learn, Read On covers up to the band's break up in 1976.

Another great box set is Tommy Bolin's "The Ultimate". From Zephyr to the James Gang and Deep Purple to his fusion stuff with Alphonze Mouzon and Billy Cobham this set covers the versitality of the great Tommy Bolin.

I've got "Citizen Steely Dan" and it's excellent. I also have "The Police:Message In A Box". Both are the complete studio catalog and both are excellent.

Yeah, that Band Box set looks good.

I just got the Hendrix box set for xmas. I'm into disc #2 of four, and there is great stuff on it.

I realy don't have many, though I have what I believe is to be one of the first, Bruce Springsteen Live 75-85. Also have the Stones London Years set, as well as the Who's first reunion tour, though that was more of a double album, don't know why they bothered with the box.
