Ever wondered how Deep Purple sounded in 1980 (yes, 1980)? Quick reminder - a company (forgot the name) asked Rod Evans to join the band under the name Deep Purple as a form of reunion. The "reunion" was in fact illegal, the management of the original band sued Rod. Damages in total - $672.000 and as a result he receive no royalties for the first three albums.

Sounds awful, but I was always intrigued by the bogus Purple and the bogus Steppenwolf from that same general era. This is the first time I've ever heard the bogus Purple.

Yes, it does sound awful. There's plenty of bands now that have only one or two original members. Deep Purple is actually down to ONE original member now.
