Blessid Union of Souls is a group that holds special meaning to me personally!

I got into "I Believe" (brave, boundary crossing and beautiful)

like most listeners at the time but I never bought any of their c.d.s at the time until "Walking Off the Buzz" c.d. came out!

I loved the lyrics and fun of the single "(Leonardo) She Likes Me For Me" and "Standing at the Edge of the Earth" just knocked me over and made my throat raw singing along to it!

"Standing at the Edge of the Earth" (least corniest vid I could find)

The one reason that Blessid Union will always mean something to me is that their song "Rest of my Life" is the official song for my first time in love! You know how some people can't listen to that sort of song because it brings pain! This song is so positive, simple and vibrant it doesn't allow me to be selfish!

The best songs are just as much as part of a moment as the moment itself and Blessid Union of Souls songs have this effect in general! They are a band that writes songs that you can relate to and feel and puts music behind it that lifts you up! We need more artist like this!

p.s. I love the "I Believe (Punk Irie)" mix but can't find it anywhere! It would've been cool to include!

Re: The Official "Blessid Union of Souls" Thread

My wife first gave me their cd back in the 90's and I liked them. I lost track of them and then a few months back, I checked them out on youtube and started listening to them again.

I also love the She likes me for me song too!

Another great one!

:) sorry guys but I'll have to pass... It's just that I think my girlfriends mother likes these guys... It's a mental blockage... Can't help it.

I'm in the mood for this type of music today and the thread needs dusting off! It's just positive music with soul and great songwriting!

Just an anecdote! I saw these guys live at my college and they played a show with grunge group Sponge of all bands! :heheh: Also, the lead singer wore furry eskimo boots in the middle of Summer! That said they were a great band live!

Here's another great track from them:

Light in Your Eyes

Oh Virginia
(great soulful track)

These guys are from a town about 30 miles from me. To be completely honest I didn't know who they were until their second album came out and I heard "Light in Your Eyes".

I like their music, but I am a sucker for this sappy stuff.

I like this song:

I'm not a Nascar fan but I remember that song being at the end of The Singles c.d. they had as a new song! It's not my favorite but it's a fun song! :grinthumb

When you have'nt listened to the old stuff in ages, it brings back many memories of growing up! I never heard of these guys before but I do recongnise the song "I Believe" that was something I did pick up when I was just a kid! It's nice to be taken away from the electro pop, to just listen to these guys and what sound they produce. It is a nice treat to the ear! I think in my case! I love the 90's sound a little bit too much! They were the days for me! :D I can recongise the music back then, but sometimes not the bands!
