The lands of Marshall Stack.
Saw these twice, Hull and Newcastle respectively, was the first gig I'd witnessed North Drums... and a double kit to boot!
(the yellow horned drums.)
Loud was not the word -

Woody Woodmansey's U- Boat - oo la la.

What a strange thread this is.
Are we saying that these bands are best forgotten?
Or that they are the BEST of the forgotten bands of the 1970s?

Either way, some strange nominations!

Sassafras were a band like Stray..who i saw many times for a £1 or so...but brilliant..think there was a connection with Love Sculpture ( Sabre Dance.) somewhere along the line.. however a cracking band that seem too overlooked.
Sassafras - Ohio.
I saw Sassafras several times in the 70s.
They were another great little band who gigged a lot, were hugely underrated and deserved far more credit than they ever achieved.
They cut three albums, the first being their best, and the last - 'Riding High' - being pretty unremarkable.
Look out for 'Expecting Company' and 'Wheelin'n'Dealin'.
