A little background
The Beatsteaks formed in 1995, in Berlin(Germany). One year later they won a local music contest, giving them the opportunity to play as an opening act for the Sex Pistols at their concert in Berlin.
They started to gain increased attention in Germany after being mentioned in "Unrockbar" a song by "die Ärzte", THE german punk band, in 2003. They had their breakthrough in Berlin in 2004 with their
"Smack Smash" album.
Even though they are from Germany, their lyrics are mostly written in english; german Wikipedia labels them as punk/alternative Rock.

Strangely enough, ABC Jazz here in Australia seems to be aware of them:

I had a listen to Hello Joe and it strangely sounds familiar, though ABC Dig Music doesn't have a page for them, I'm surprised a punk rock band would rock up on a Jazz Page. :D
