Arnel Pineta joins Journey

I was watching CBS Sunday morning and they had a story about Journey and their unlikely new lead singer Arnel Pineta. Arnel is an unlikely choice since he from the Phillipines but as I watched I was really impressed. Here is the link. See what you think.

I love "Perry-era" Journey quite a bit. And maybe I'm over-generalizing here, but, I wonder why Neal and the band don't go in a completely different direction instead of marching out an endless succession of Perry-clones. This is no knock on Pineta. Just wondering is all.

I watched CBS Sunday Morning and saw that segment, too. It was pretty cool. That Filipino guy can really sing! And talk about sounding just like Steve

To listen to Arnel Pineta talk I would never guess he could pull it off but he did. At some point it would be cool if Journey started making new music but I would guess they are just trying to cash in right now.

I heard they have a double CD coming out with one CD of re-recorded classics and one of original songs. I'm actually interested in hearing it now that I've heard Arnel. He's really amazing.

The new album's pretty good IMO. The Re-recoreded stuff ain't too bad, I just prefer the originals, but the new stuff is good.
