Agree I forgot those two albums in my previous post above.
Back in 1991-92 Decca/Deram in the UK re-released all the Savoy Brown cd/albums from the first Savoy Brown Blues Band album in 1967 to Savage Return in 1978 and I bought the lot but unfortunately a few years later I sold the lot which...
With regards to Madonna playing rhythm guitar with AC/DC on a tour I believe Madonna played electric guitar on stage with US thrashers PANTERA a few years ago so anything is possible?.
A crazy idea came to me a couple of years ago about Madonna?. Apparently 'Madge' is a pretty good electric guitar rhythm player and it would have sent shock waves through the rock world if Madonna had done a tour as the rhythm guitarist with AC/DC taking over from the late Malcolm Young??. That...
Yeah kinda agree with the above post and with regards to the song FTATR firstly I haven't heard it for at least the last 5 years but I like that definite chord change towards the end of the song which is pretty cool.
Nice one Ian. I originally 'got into' Rory back in the mid-1980s and was pretty big on him towards the latter part of his life in the late 1980s (the Defender album era) and the early 1990s (the Fresh Evidence album era) and even went over to Cork in Ireland back in 1993 to try and find where he...
In my humble opinion I thought some of there stuff was alright mainly the 1970s album tracks and NOT THE HIT SINGLES of the 1970s.
My favourite album is PLAY IT LOUD 1970. Some of the early 1980s heavy rockers are also ok as well.
A quick personal guide to Rory's studio albums.
"Firstly Rory never released a 'bad' album in his entire recording career either with the two studio albums with 'Taste' or as a 'solo artist' with his own 'Rory Gallagher band' nor did he like many other bands and artists ever record or release...
About time to. It was reported on line a couple of years ago that the Tony was working on the 'Tony Martin era Sabbath' cd/albums for release so they are finally going to come out good. In Particular I want to get a copy of FORBIDDEN from 1995 cos my original copy of this cd was sold by me about...
As you know Ian it can be an expensive interest or hobby collecting rock music records and cds or at least it can be if like me I have around 20 rock and blues/rock bands that I like and were active from the late 1960s and into the 1970s so with those particular bands I usually always have to...
I read in MOJO magazine the other day (new years eve) that a SUPER DELUXE version of LIVE AND DANGEROUS that includes 8 cds is being released shortly so I guess that's another £100+ quid to fork out on another box set??.
Oh NO!. God Kim has passed away that's a shock cos Savoy Brown was one of my favourite blues/rock bands especially all there Deram/Decca albums from the late 1960s through to 1978.
I presume Kim maybe never got the acclaim as a guitarist as he should have got in Britain maybe cos he spent most...
Thanks for the correction STATUS QUO. Yeah I do remember reading in SOUNDS that John had departed the band in 1981 I was getting mixed up with both John and Alan when they both departed the band at different times.
You sure like The Quo STATUS QUO don't cha!.
I remember reading when Alan Lancaster quit Quo back in the early 1980s he claimed that the other two Rossi and Parfitt regarded him all a long as a 'sideman' or so he believed?.
Bit of a strange cd/album is this one featuring various covers songs from other bands?. I presume it was recorded basically to give Gillan, Glover & Paice and the other two in the band something to do during the 2020-21 'lock down' period and then put out for the diminishing number of DP fans...
I have been watching again the Led Zeppelin movie The Song Remains The Same and it comes across a lot better watching it now than it originally did for me about 30 years ago.
The Madison Square Garden concert footage from 1973 is brilliant in my opinion you can't fault it and as for the...
With regards to John Paul Jones apparently when the movie people went to film him in his house possibly around 1975-76 to feature in the 'off stage' movie sequences in the movie The Song Remains The Same John had by then cut his hair short compared to how he looked in the 1973 movie performance...
LED ZEPPELIN The Song Remains The Same the movie soundtrack released in 1976
Also I have been rewatching the movie of the same name of the 1973 Madison Square concert in NY and like it this time around although when I first watched it about 30 years ago I didn't know what to make of it...
RORY GALLAGHER the live bonus cd recorded in December 1979 in San Francisco that is include with the studio double-cd Notes From San Francisco released in 2011
Same here. One Vice At A Time was probably their best studio album along with the next album Headhunter which has some great tracks on it such as the title track and Eat The Rich (not the Motorhead song). Personally I have all the bands albums on cds from 1979/80 Metal Rendez-vous through to...
Currently the BOSTON debut album from 1976 and I've already played it around 5 times since 8:00am this morning ;)
I did read that Steve Jones out of 'the pistols' rates or rated this Boston abum much to the discuss of some old punks?? o_O
Frankie Miller is (or was) an interesting guy who once formed a band with Robin Trower (the electric guitar god who was big in the 1970s) called JUDE although nothing of JUDE was recorded despite the band jamming in the studio for around 10 months during 1972 plus Frankie has or had a great...
I once had this cd/album and the follow up album featuring Paul Rodgers ex-Free & Bad Company and Jimmy Page ex-Led Zeppelin and the two other guys that were in the band on bass and drums and sold both cds about 15 years ago and subsequently I've never seen it since in any of the few remaining...
Funny bit I seem to play this Stones album/cd fairly often cos I like Bill Wyman's Downtown Suzie and the Mick Taylor tracks Jiving Sister Fan*y, I Don't Know Why & I'm Going Down plus the 2nd version of Memo From Turner
