Everything prior to the split with Gus Dudgeon is good. When they got back together the magic was lost. The early material is very influenced by The Band.
I am a Pink Floyd fan, but I do not like any of Roger Waters's so-called concepts. They are just an excuse for him to whinge, especially The Wall. I cannot relate to Pete Townshend's concepts for Tommy and Quadrophenia, which are really his childhood and adolescence, but I cannot fault the music...

Various recent threads have reminded me of classic, highly rated, cult or well-known albums that I have never heard. These are:
- Throwing Copper by Live
- The Tim Owens albums by Judus Priest
There are others:
- Any Sven Galli album
- I don't think I've heard the Mad Season...
Anberlin seem to be splitting just as they are beginning to have success. I think some bands panic in the belief that if they split before too long, they still have time to start again as individuals.
I also quite liked Chinese Democracy.
There are so many. ELP did not split at their best, but I was still disappointed. However, the main one for me was UK, who were so promising, but John Wetton formed the disappointing Asia, while Eddie Jobson and Terry Bozzio faded into obscurity.
I thought Rob Halford's Fight and Glenn Tipton's solo albums were pretty good. On the other hand, I did not care much for Halford's work with Roy Z, although I might feel different if I heard it now. I haven't heard Tim Owens' albums with Judus Priest.
