What Are You Listening to Now? Pics/Videos

I accidentally fell upon a copy of Bee Gees Odessa on LP… and I’m frying my brain with it atm. It is every bit as good as the Beatles White album. I am totally shocked and blown away by this album! It’s pop, prog, folk a hint of Motown. Highly recommend it. I know they can write hits, but had no...

    Alice Cooper Versus Ozzy Osbourne??

Alice for me, far more prolific than Ozzy, a great showman with a clever tongue in cheek way of presenting lyrics. I love Ozzy too, but Alice for me outclasses him. Plus I really love concept albums and character based songs. Both of them have a knack for finding incredible guitarists too!

    Kansas (Official Thread)

Like you have only recently begun to pay attention to Kansas, I actually see them as a fusion of Rush and Styx with maybe a hint of Uriah Heep. It’s kind of crazy, to look at them they seem like they should be southern rock but the intricacies of the songs is just mind blowing, especially...

Ive done this on afew forums, but here goes, Stairway to Heaven vs Bohemian Rhapsody

As a huge Queen fan I actually do not consider Bohemian Rhapsody their best, I like it but I don’t get super excited by it. Somebody To Love is far superior. Stairway is far more iconic, but both songs suffer from being over played. However I think Stairway may have the edge because I came first...

    The SWEET (Official Thread)

The Sweet I personally see them as one wrung behind Queen, I mean seriously Sweet F.A, Desolation Boulevard, Give Us A Wink… if their cheap bubblegum pop past hadn’t existed this band could have been serious contenders for rock royalty. As it is they are sadly relegated to being an influence in...

    Songs That Stayed....

Probably have to go with Come Sail Away, just love that line…”I think of childhood friends and the dreams we had.”

    Stryper (Official Thread)

They toured New Zealand on the THWTD tour. I was really into them at the time. They delivered a killer live show no doubt. Michael Sweet’s voice kind of gets on my nerves a bit now, but they were musically a lot more proficient than some of their peers!

    KISS (Official Thread)

Straight up Kiss are side by side with Queen as my favourite bands. I discovered Kiss first thanks to Ace’s solo album, I bought Double Platinum next and from there I HAD to get the catalogue. Originally as a a kid in ,78/‘79 I swore Kiss could do no wrong, but as I grew older I became more...

"Come On Now Kid It Was Wrong What Ya Did" Anyone Know This Song?

You’re right, it’s from the track “Running Shoes” https://www.lyrics.com/lyric-lf/242192/Roger+Waters/4.33+AM+%28Running+Shoes%29

What KISS solo album is your favorite?

Ace all the way. It was harder than Kiss and also my true introduction to music, the catalyst for my lifelong obsession. Gotta give props to Gene for his diversity and Peter for going right out of the box to his roots. Paul's was just another Kiss album and to me the album that shoes least...

    When Drummers Sing

Roger Taylor - Queen The power of this guys range is phenomenal. Obviously “I’m in Love with My Car” is his most well known, but There’s Loser in the End, Tenement Funster, Drowse, Fight from the Inside and more. Sadly I don’t think he performed any of the others live.

What Music DVD Are You Watching

Most recently I’ve been obsessed with this. The performance is classy, elegant and ahead of its time.

Why do you invest in music?

When I was quite young, maybe 10, I started paying more attention to the radio, I got my mother ABBA Arrival for Xmas one year and ended up listening to it constantly, drawn more to the songs that had just a hint more rock in them, particularly I Am The Tiger. Eventually I heard Ace Frehley’s...

    Alice Cooper (Official Thread)

The most prolific artist in heavy rock. I picked up on him with From The Inside. As a young teen I somehow identified with that whole album. Being an introvert the idea and feel of “The Quiet Room” was particularly emotional and powerful. In my opinion he is the bench mark for live performance...

What's the last gig that you went to?

Motley on their "The End" Tour. Worst concert i've ever been too. Thank god Alice Cooper was on the line up. Motley had never been here (New Zealand) before but they just went through the motions without ANY of the show they put on worldwide. Vince was horrible, they were using backing tracks...

The song stuck in your head thread!

Most recently It's been Saint & Sinner Of Kiss Creatures of the Night. I kept hearing g the drum intro in my head and it stuck with me for days. Happens all the time. Last month it was a mishmash of Rush songs.

    One Of My Twisted Tunes

I have been a "musician" for many years, too many. I had some fun with bands back in the 80's/90's but never got far. still I have the bug. Here is one I wrote as part of a semi satirical, Punk/Post Punk project I call Dead Sex Puppets. This one is a silly, Ian Dury inspired tribute to Robert...

    Hello Again

Cheap Trick are a huge fave of mine, first concert I ever saw when I was about 14/15, Dream Police tour. Also big fan of the Sweet. Never saw the original but I did see Andy Scott’s line up with Mick on drums back in about 1986. Legendary!
