It's total chick music, with the most utterly simplistic lyrics one could write...but something that I can at least stomach. I picture Millenial girls in cars blasting this as high as it will go and singing to each other. 5.5/10

As much as I love it, I think rock and roll was a slippery slope. And yes, people have gone too far. I don't like the gender bending stuff at all and guys like Bowie are so good, they don't need those kind of cheap stunts to attract a crowd.
One of the things that I like about this cover is that the song is slowed down which gives you time to take in the lyrics...something that was hard to do with the Tears For Fears original. I think slowing down the tempo gives it a bit more gravity. 8/10
I haven't heard this style of music before...at least I don't think I have. Looked it up and they are described as 1930s/40s Euro-style swing jazz. Very unique stuff with some nice guitar work. 8/10
I always thought this was an original by Boy George made just for the film. The original here is definitely a more raw version with an interesting guitar effect although I don't think his vocals are as good as those by the Culture Club front man. 7/10
I may start using one on this site just to get rid of those ads between threads. Sad that I have to do this but it's to the point now where it's just annoying.
Meh. I like the whistling melody but the vocals are uninspiring. Sounds like the typical soulless, robotic Millennial singing that infects so many other songs today. 6/10
I'm curious as to why you think Nirvana ripped off Sonic Youth. I always thought SY was completely overrated and couldn't even play their instruments. Never did understand why they had such a cult following.
Nirvana meanwhile at least made catchy songs with infectious melodies.
I'm in marketing myself so I'm kind of against ad-blockers. Also, I click on those side ads from time to time just to help out the site. I just think the new ads are annoying and need to go.
Yeah, what's up with all of the ads now in the middle of the threads? I can see putting them on the right side column but adding all of the other ones kills the feel of the site.
Funny enough, I just watched Godfather III last night. I don't remember it being in the film though. However, I have heard this classic before and have always liked it. 7.5/10.
Now, let's go to France...
Nice pick. I was a bit of a Siouxsie fan back in the day during my Goth phase although the girls I hung around with seemed to like them more than me. This is for sure one of their top 3 songs and IMO, holds up better today than some of the rest of their stuff. 7.8/10
Some more post punk...
Gilbert O' Sullivan has been my favorite new discovery on YouTube this past year. I find his lyrics to be genuine and very accessible while the music offers incredibly catchy melodies. Nothing Rhymed is a great example of this. 9/10
Wow...I didn't know Olivia Newton-John was at one point a country singer. Listening to this cut, it sounds like a mix between country and pop so I can see why it placed on both charts and also laid the foundation for the rest of her career as a pop artist. 7.5/10
