I just discovered this wonderful Jazz singer: Helen Merrill. Downloaded her first two albums to check her out, and I'm really loving what I'm hearing! :) "Don't Explain" Helen Merrill & Clifford Brown (1955) Cry to hear folks chatter, and I know you cheat; but right and wrong don't matter...

Why poor quality rock albums :(

The Arival album, by ABBA, is a very well-produced album... esp for 1976. Those two dudes were perfectionists in the recording studio.

Houses Of The Holy vs. Sabbath Bloody Sabbath

Agreed! :p Sabbath Bloody Sabbath First heard the title track on Ozzy's Speak Of The Devil live album, and would crank it when I was mad at my mom or dad. I still prefer that version, but this whole album is a masterpiece!

    Christian Rock

I discovered this band while searching for Blackberry Smoke videos. NEEDTOBREATHE are a Christian Rock band, but not all of their songs fit that description. Here's a good one: "State I'm In" NEEDTOBREATHE (live 2015) ...I've seen every little corner of your two-bit town.

I have a "End Of The World" playlist going right now, and this is playing: "Here Comes The Flood (Shaking The Tree)" Peter Gabriel (1990) There's no point in direction; we cannot even choose a side.

Close To The Edge. A really great pairing, but I've got to go with Yes' CTTE.

    Tell us about your stereo!

Sounds good! I love the looks of the 1970's Thorens TT's. My current setup isn't anything to brag about... it's all old but in really great condition. Here's the green-eyed lady I have paired up with my Philips 677 turntable. She's a Rotel RX-202 MK II, with 20-watts-per-channel. A nice modest...

    Americana Music

I think it's a great idea! Americana music really is folk music, though not necessarily acoustic, and while not big enough for it's own section will fit in with country music most of all. Historical subject matter is important, and so is instrumentation. Not all folk music is Americana...

Why poor quality rock albums :(

I must say, I have generally hated studio recordings of the past two decades for the lack of any reverb on the vocals. My biggest dissapiontments in this are the re-formed Asia's albums. I'd waited decades to hear those four men play again... ...and then they went and recorded John Wetton's...

Why poor quality rock albums :(

For a live album, Blues Alive by Gary Moore (1993) sounds great. A wide-open sound, high highs, a clear horn section track, and a full bottom-end.
