    UFO (official thread)

For me, Walk On Water was the true successor to Lights Out, tho Obsession was a good album. Certainly a top tier reunion album up there with Iron Maiden-Brave New World and Judas Priest-Angel Of Retribution.

    UFO (official thread)

Have you heard the 2 Mogg/Way albums? Fortune Town from the 1st album was a bonus track on one of the Walk On Water releases. Great stuff.

    R.I.P. Space Ace Frehley

Those 2 tracks plus Shock Me, Dark Light & his cover of ELO's Do Ya are my favorite Ace tracks. And his 78 "solo" record was the best of the 4 for me.

    R.I.P. Space Ace Frehley

Paul Daniel “Ace” Frehley, co-founder and lead guitarist of the legendary rock band Kiss and a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, has died following injuries suffered during a fall last month, according to a statement from his family. He was 74. He was always entertaining and an integral...

    RIP MTV

MTV died about 30 years ago, then MTV2, then VH1, then VH1 Classic. The best place to find music videos for years has been Youtube.

Rush is going back on the road

I really believe these guys deserve to go back out and play those great songs again. It won't be the same without Neil.

    Iron Maiden (Official Thread)

This is interesting.... Bruce sings the (US) national anthem at an NFL game, and does a better job of it than most.

    Helloween (Official Thread)

I have 450 metal albums on a USB stick in my Beemer, and have had hundreds more classic rock & metal albums over the years. An album that is 100% bangers is fairly rare in my experience. 2 less than impressive tracks still makes for a damn good album.

    Helloween (Official Thread)

A new album is en-route, Giants & Monsters is due out today. This track/video proves beyond a doubt that having all three singers is a really good thing, and they still make fun videos. Helloween - A Little Is A Little Too Much

Spinal Tap II coming our way in September

The official trailer... And the first official music video dropped today... Everything is a bit better now. Plus they got the Stone'enge monument right this time.

    RIP

A very sad day for metalheads. The King is dead, long live the King! I have the Sabbath catalog on USB in the BMW. Time for a full re-listen....at very high volume.

    Uriah Heep (Official Thread)

I forgot my yearly "welcome to July" post. One of my favorite early Heep tracks.

    Review UFO- Obsession (1978) ***

Fleetwood Mac is a testament to that for sure. But then the conflict gets to be too much.

    Review UFO- Obsession (1978) ***

A bit of a let-down after Lights Out, but how could it not be. In no way a bad album, it's still a must have for any UFO fan. Maybe the issues between Mogg & Schenker were taking a toll and the earlier energy/chemistry just wasn't as strong?

IAN GILLAN: 'I Don't Think RITCHIE BLACKMORE's Playing Great These Days'

I always thought Steve Morse was a great guitarist in the Steve Morse Band and the Dixie Dregs, and to a lesser extent the two Kansas albums he played on. His work with DP was OK, but nothing spectacular. The last DP album =1 with Simon McBride was a lot more retro sounding, but very few...

The History Of Prog Metal In 21 Albums

WT has varied their style more than, say, Epica, who have always done pure symphonic metal. WT has been classified as gothic & symphonic metal, but the symphonic aspect was never as strong as Epica or early NW.

    Review Asia- Self Titled (1982) * 1/2

I feel like I benefitted from the fact I had no idea at the time what bands these guys were previously in. I was hooked by the singles and it's still my favorite Asia album, with Alpha at #2. I went on to own all the other albums at one time or another, including the Aurora EP on vinyl which I...

The History Of Prog Metal In 21 Albums

There seem to be some very liberal definitions of both "prog" and "metal". King Crimson, Yes and Rush are not metal (Rush is hard rock). Nightwish is symphonic metal, but I never thought of them as prog, though they do have "more complex arrangements" in their music.

Alice Cooper Band reunites for new album!

I've given Black Mamba a few listens. It really does have an early Alice Cooper Band vibe, but is a bit slow developing and the "ya ya" chorus is a bit annoying. A good song, but not a great one. Hoping for better from the rest of the album.
