    The Cassette Chronicles

Enjoyed the writeup, Jay. Actually listening to Dio today, coincidentally. I remember this coming out, and I was kind of disappointed with it. I thought it was a real step down from the previous two albums. Dio/Viv were already having problems, and while we didn't know it at the time, it would...

    Review UFO- Obsession (1978) ***

Mother Mary was one of the songs recorded on a soundstage and "added" to the Strangers album despite not being played on the tour.

They were definitely taking a toll. But albums born of conflict often times deliver. Night In The Ruts comes to mind as well.

    Review UFO- Obsession (1978) ***

Huge UFO fan here. I reach for Obsession a lot when I want a classic Schenker Era album, even though No Heavy Petting is my favorite. Obsession is a whole 'nuther beast from Lights Out. It is definitely heavier and just way more raw and immediate. Regarding the songs.. I would never rate OYCRM...

Why is liking Jim Morrison more than Freddie Mercury wrong?

I hate people like that. People like what they like, and you have to respect that.

    Bands That Should Retire

Yeah, I've come around to this line of thinking. I totally get it. But this is more how I really feel though, especially in terms of my own personal commitment.

Why is liking Jim Morrison more than Freddie Mercury wrong?

Nothing wrong with liking one guy's voice and delivery over another guy, despite technical ability. FTR, I'm of the opinion that Jim Morrison is one of the most overrated blowhards in the history of music.

I feel your strife. I am finding it harder and harder to part with money for music.

    # If Hendrix was still Alive?

I don't play Hendrix often, but when I do, this is my go to..

    # If Hendrix was still Alive?

Well, he'd be 82. I honestly don't know how awesome his guitar playing would actually be. Sorry, I'm being a crank. Yes, Hendrix was very influential. I just cannot romanticize about Hendrix at that age.

    # If Hendrix was still Alive?

He'd be doing what every other musician from the 60's is doing. Doing shows playing 50-60 year old songs. Probably with a younger tighter band to carry his ass, and backing vocalists to do the same.

The History Of Prog Metal In 21 Albums

Another useless list. lol How you can make such a list without Rush's Hemispheres or Yes' Close To the Edge is crazy. @Dr. Wu...I think Queensryche really has only one album that I would consider progressive, and that's Rage For Order. I think they pushed some traditional metal boundaries on...

Alice Cooper Band reunites for new album!

I hope the rest of the album isn't as plodding. Hopefully, they're not too old to play something a little faster.

Alice Cooper Band reunites for new album!

When Road came out, Alice said he had another album in the can that would really surprise people. This must be it. Definitely looking forward to this.

Review Loverboy- Get Lucky (1981) ***

I also had the first two albums. I was in Junior High at the time. In fact, the first boombox my parents bought for us, the first cassette played in it was Get Lucky. lol I remember loving Gangs In the Street. As much as I enjoyed their first two albums, I moved on to heavier music. Haven't...

    When Live Performances Pay Off

On May 8, 1992, I saw Kiss at Avalon in Boston when they were doing the Revenge club tour. It was an amazing show, but the opening band was a band called Shooting Gallery. Had a real LA club sleaze feel to them which if done right is fine. They blew me away live, particularly the drummer who I...
