A Whiter Shade of Pale or Nights in White Satin?

Pale for me Both victims of overplaying. Listened to Pale a couple of months back & really enjoyed it. Procol Harum were indeed a very under-rated band

    ELP debut vs. Genesis Trespass

Massive - massive - Genesis fan. Very close call for me. But I think I've played the ELP debut album a fair bit more than I've played Trespass, certainly in the last 20 years or so

    The Stranglers (Official Thread)

The band are still touring, with a newish singer (who sounds the part) and quite often with a stand-in drummer as Jet Black's not ageing well. Saw them over here last year & they were absolutely superb. JJ Burnel still plays a thumping bass line & they played with great energy & replicated the...

    Alvin Lee or Peter Green?

Alvin Lee, although I like both a lot. My Peter Green story - went to see him around....jeez... maybe 10 years ago. He had a young guitarist doing all the real work, Peter strummed along from his stool. The guitarist twice tried to encourage Peter to tell a story, but he simply mumbled it to...

Comfortably Numb or Firth Of Fifth?

Can see the rational behind wanting to compare these 2 classic songs, but really, it's no contest. As much as I absolutely adore almost everything Genesis, Comfy Numb is in a different league to FOF. And I LOVE FOF !

Thanks Frands. I already know them pretty well. Saw them play in one of my local pubs when I lived in Ireland. The Once Upon A Time DVD is well worth a listen - and a watch.

    Pink Floyd (Official Thread)

Well, the show is over, and what a show it was! Quite limited light show due to no roof/walls to suspend equipment, but the important thing - the music - by Christ, the man can still play his guitar! Each & every one of the band were absolutely on their game too. A quite outstanding couple of...

Help me with a 70's playlist please!

I suspect our music collections wouldn't be very different Jake! Once again, thanks for avoiding the obvious & reminding me of some really great songs.

Help me with a 70's playlist please!

This is great! Listened to Spiral Architect last night - first time in many a year - what a great song it is! Exactly the sort of thing I was hoping for when I started this thread. Cheers

Mob rules, but it's a close one

    Gary Moore vs Robin Trower

Bang it repeatedly against a spliff in my case. And always with the lips

    Gary Moore vs Robin Trower

Gary Moore was probably more technically gifted, but Trower invoked emotions with his music that, for me, Moore couldn't match.
