A great man, a legend in the music scene. People criticize him for his religious beliefs, but the fact remains that he was always one of the most down to Earth, respectful members of the music industry for many years.

Just saw the Pirate Song, performed by George Harrison in 1975. Search it on YouTube, I'm sure you'll find it.

George was a great musician and song writer much respected and now sadly missed, the first voice I can recall hearing on radio.

He stepped from the long shadow cast by his former band to record some timeless tunes under his own steam ,, George is a legend.

What where his religious beliefs?

He was very into Eastern religion, especially Hinduism. He was introduced to it when the Beatles made a trip to India in 1966. It was a mind-opening experience for all of them, especially George. He started to learn the sitar from Ravi Shankar, who played at the Concert for Bangladesh with him. It is also probably why he wrote Indian sounding songs such as Within You, Without You. He also mentions God in a lot of his solo work.

I didn't know people criticized him for his beliefs though. I could see why it may have turned people off to some of his songs, but I never heard anyone criticize him for it.

George is one of my favorite guitarists. He didn't really believe in the ripping solos like Hendrix or Clapton, but his fills were always very memorable and melodic. He also wrote some of the best Beatle songs and continued to write great songs when he was solo. Definitely a legend of music who also seemed like the nicest guy.
