Brian for me. Like them both pretty much, though.

As much as I adore Queen and Brian May's sound intellect and playing, Eddie is a tinkering genius in his own right and is a shredding monster. The Roth era of Van Halen is one of my favorite rock lineups and consists of playing that I prefer over that of Brian May's own style... so it's hard to pass him up. Eddie for me!

Eddie is technically superior and I do enjoy old Van Halen, especially the debut, but I prefer May's playing/sound and I consider Queen up there among my all-time favorite bands.

I prefer the sound of Queen to Van Halen. but if I only consider the strumentist, I choose Eddie to Brian.

Eddie. Van Halen's s/t debut was one of those albums that had a huge impact on me back in '78. Nowadays I still listen to Queen but haven't heard a Halen album in years.
