State of the Forum: Things I Want to Address

Love you guys! The last three members to post are kind of a generational thing on the forum starting with Vader then to joker to the newest Cadleson. @Vader is one of the few to be their from as far back as I can remember and never run out of new bands to pull out the woodwork. Your new music mojo has exceeded mine dude. @joker1961 came right around the time I started Admin. and then Sharp became my partner in crime. I've never heard a fuss about anything dude and you've bumped so many music threads and always have something to say in most of the new ones. It's honestly been hugely crucial with a member base that's wavered more than usually. @Cadleson you are the rare new member that has the right attitude and has integrated seamlessly with everyone. Your presence here is great and you have a great way with words when you do post. It's funny I remember usernames and personalities/qualities people I've never met alongside with my real life friendships but i sincerely enjoy logging in and seeing my peers here. Peace!

Likewise. I am glad you're still around. I would say THE first friend I made on here when I joined in 2010. lol

Yes I've been lucky enough to be friends with magic longer than that, what a true boss, class act, the real reason I stay here. You are always supportive and have helped me and the boards you have staffed more than most are aware. I think the level of free speech to censorship of things that are too ****ed up is at a good ratio here, way better than the car and computer boards I used to frequent. I don't like the old school board software and layout but other than that I have no problems with anyone, don't think anyone means me any specific harm. Couldn't say that in years gone past but it's a good group. What ever happened to khor and all my old buddies I'll never know. Boards come and go I'm amazed this one is still around, it's comforting.

Most of my in real life friends dropped touch with me when I stopped drinking so I like internet friendships these days.

Most of my other favorite boards are deceased.

It's sad to see so many forums on the internet dying and closing. I have met many really nice people in these forums. Some of them I've been friends with 10+ years. I look forward to visiting my online fiends, which is probably why I'm online so much....


Many. Many years ago, the first forum I joined was a nerdy tech "help" forum. Back in those days a forum had nothing fancy or fun. The only thing you could do was type text.

Funny thing though.....even way back in the old days there was spam and moderators had a ban hammer!

As far as what we are, what we get to do and what we aim to have. Here's the course. We're not going to be facebook or even lower forms of social media which is a place where it's become annoying to even log into because of the endless spiral of troll labels like "libs", "conservatives", "snowflakes", "natzis", etc. having a non-dialog that never goes anywhere. No one is solving problems and social media elsewhere has become the level of Reddit and youtube comments where people are actually trolling or ego stroking their side of the pointless debate. I'd like to think that people want a place to escape that. The ones who like to rabble rouse have a million options. This isn't a "safe place". It's a good place. Music is supposed to transcend differences. How can it when the differences are dug out and thrown in each others faces.

has always dude you are an amazing guy and musical genius you`ve add new music and some not so new to me when we talk its always a pleasure your a gentle caring fabulous amazing person to which we all agree you and the others do amazingly awesome job keeping our FORUM running sweet so once again Thank You for all you do...

I adore this forum. I yearn to come on here when I'm not able to and see what old and new music tastes I can indulge in, be a part of it all, expand my listening options to a tasty plethora, etc.

I know what you're speaking of, Sooty, or what might have provoked or incited part of this addressing. Despite the vulgar behavior and obscenities, I can see, as you say, how much it's condoned. Some poking ain't too bad to me, but I suppose there is limiting to a degree of said behavior...

The entire scope of the modding team deserves much recognition. You all do well to make this place conceivable and well renowned in comparison to its rival forums. Some are abhorrent as all get out.

While I haven't really done much around here and am fairly new to this site, I really do feel as if each and every one of us could have some sort of gathering and have zero problems (well, maybe a few?) like a dysfunctional family.

Won't say much more, other than I really applaud the work you all put into this forum and that I really appreciate and like every single one of you, staff and member alike. I'll grow into this site, as many of you have.

You have to admit Magic, all those forums, the ones that have been around for years, are all gone and yet, CRF is still up and running. This site will never disappear as it seems the staff and member base here will always strive to keep it going. I will never shut it down, even if there were 2 posts a day on here.

I can't believe the others would just close up shop. Why not give other people a chance to run it rather then just shut it down. Never understood that.
