I just reviewed the restart and there is a lot of old classic stuff going on
up there. Kudos' to Vader, Cadleson, record27, Magic w/ his
Can (great band), and all the great spins: Jeff Beck, ZZ Topp,
the John Hiatt thing, Zappa, The Band (o' yeah), great spins
that make me smile.
I'm cueing this up next... Freeway Jam in a well-mixed 5.1
You'll probably give it one listen and if you get through a couple songs you've got a strong resolve. Anyone who's felt loss especially through Cancer will feel something deep within and some lines will be like a punch to the gut. I related a lot of the feelings to the passing of my grandparents. It was cathartic to hear some of those feelings recreated through someone elses experience.
This is a messy pastiche of awesomeness that manages to feel cohesive. It's got layers upon layers so every time you can hear something different. The closest thing I can compare this to is the Gorillaz with the smooth flow that's not quite Hip Hop and not too far from Alt-Rock. The album is poppy, it's jazzy, it's trip hoppy, it's got some classic Rock influences yet it was fresh and inventive when it came out, but most of all it didn't reach the merits it should've earned.
Memomena-Friend and Foe
The track I'd drop to wet peoples taste is the one that was given to me first by the friend who recommended the band:
