I'm still okay with the majority of class rock. This new junk with voice boxes and heavy sampling grinds on my nerves. Think back to the genius of albums like "Tommy" or the Yes albums... They are the modern equals to the greats of Classical, and just as unique for their times. Perhaps a few politically themed songs have gotten stale, or my outlook has changed.

What about you?

Most forms of extreme metal. Entombed, Slayer, Bathory, Cannibal Corpse.... stuff like that. It's just totally old hat to me now. I still love great metal like Black Sabbath and Iron Maiden, but their more extreme musical followers just bore me now.

Also, most straightforward cock rock. To be honest most cock rock is the sound of the sexual frustration of teenagers. I've outgrown that

I keep up with all my old favorites at least a little bit. But the artists I've lost touch with most are the huge favorites who I very deeply overplayed in my youth and who don't have any new material to rekindle my interest.

Namely, that's Led Zeppelin, Nirvana, and Pantera. Also Eminem, I don't relate much to his music anymore and his newer music isn't my style.

I still listen to and admire those artists but I mainly play just a handful of favorite tracks.

I can't say I've "outgrown" any music. I enjoy a wide variety of genres and styles of music; from the 50's to the present.

What I can say, though, is my guilty pleasures are basically in the past. I use to really enjoy some of the boy & girl bands of the 90's, like Backstreet Boys and Spice Girls. the main reason they are kind of forgotten is because they are not active any more.........but I do pull them out once in a nostalgic blue moon and give them a listen.

Outgrown... hmm, first band that comes to mind is "Sonic Youth". I thought they were soooo experimental and alternative back then. Can't even listen to most of their songs anymore because they're just bad. "Marylin Manson" is another example for the same reasons that Black Dahlia had mentioned.

"Outgrown" Im having a tough time telling.

I looked over the collection and that didn't help. I have never gotten rid of anything i bought.

Then I came to this. There was alot of stuff that played on the radio and in movies during certain periods of life, that when I listen to them i dont like them but i know I was positive towards them at one time.

That said i never bought them.

So i guess i have outgrown most everything "pop culture" ???????
