You should not have these things ENABLED BY DEFAULT as problems like this happen...

Thank you.... I love this site alot!! (VB3.x and lower are my favourite)

I am no longer an admin, but maybe I can help you with removing a huge part of those notifications.

I am assuming you are also receiving pesky emails, too.

Go to userCP.

Click on Edit Options.

#1. Disable all email notifications. Tick all the boxes in "receive email"

#2. In " Default thread subscription" choose no email notification from the drop down menu.

#3. Disable private messaging.

#4. Disable Visitor messaging.

The above will stop all notifications except post mentions, post quotes, and friend requests.

From there you need an admin to help you.

Thank you Magic,

Yes I have everything disabled... Private messages work fine..... When I delete it the # goes down by one but when I look @ my profile and see all my mentions,etc..... THE # DOES NOT RESET TO 0!

Why do they do this????? -- I hope someone will clear it for me.. (Most ppl dont care as long as THEY arent having issues)

Thanx for your help my friend!

Have you checked quotes, visitor messages, mentions also since people quoting your posts also give notifications?

Ok....I understand your dilemma.

In order to clear those notifications from your profile, you have to actually open the notification.

Click on the thread title in the mentions and quotes notification. It will take you to the post where you were mentioned or quoted. Then that clears the notification count.

I know, it's a pain, but that is the only way I know to clear them without an admin's help.

I'm sorry I didn't see this yesterday. I do the night shift and didn't recall seeing this when i checked the updated threads. Like the other members that responded I'm not sure why they aren't clearing. This is the first I've heard of this. I'm curious to know if anyone else is having this issue though. I have little to no power over the programming aspect of the forum but if there's an actual glitch I can report it to my superior and see if he can explore and fix things up. :)
