When I was young, music was the backbone to a good party. Drinking & weed went hand to hand. Music always seemed better when one was under-the-influence. I can remember listening to The Cars "Moving in Stereo", over and over, and becoming all giggly!

I don't party like that anymore. I do drink on a rare occasion and there is always music playing when I indulge. Usually some type of Southern Rock ;)

It's all about the music. I enjoy music in all states and circumstances. Ages ago someone asked me how I enjoyed the Grateful Dead, Gong and/or Pink Floyd not being stoned or drunk? Never got the difference I grew up listening to that stuff before I ever drank or smoked. I can listen to all types of music I like at anytime although I prefer mellow stuff in the morning. I only drink now and not that much so most of the time I'm listening o music I'm straight but it doesn't stop me from playing just about anything.

I don't smoke, but have on occasion been known to partake of Drink. But even though I did engage, ahemmmm rather heavily at times, I never associated it with the music.

it was more about having a good time and generally just having fun.

I am sure the alcohol may have enhanced and detracted form the Music depending on the music :)

When I was 17 or so.....alcohol came in a 3.2% beer.......VERY popular with us teenagers. This was during the Disco explosion, when 18 year olds could go to the club and get 3.2% beer. (Horrible hangover drink).

Anyway, the clubs and bars were very lax on checking ID's back then, so it was easy for a 17 year old to get in. After a pitcher or two of Pabst Blue Ribbon, Disco was the grrreatest!!!! I could dance and drink all night

I had to reacquaint myself with my record collection when I gave up the weed as virtually all of my listening was done while under the influence. Sometimes with friends, and sometimes all night if other substances had been taken. You sort of had the feeling that some of the music contained the meaning of life :gig

I have never liked to drink, although I do enjoy a toke now and again, usually booze or weed has no bearing on how much I'm enjoying the music I'm listening to.

Sometimes I might get more into a particular song when I'm high, but it only lasts for so long.

Sometimes a song that I've never noticed before or never really liked will become the greatest thing all the sudden. Once I remember being high riding in a car somewhere listening to Gimme Three Steps by Lynyrd Skynyrd. Never liked that song but for that moment it was great!
