Eskimo Joe are a three piece alternative rock band from Perth. With Kayven Temperley's unique voice leading them, they mix grand rock anthems with emotional ballads.

Their first album Girl, released in 2001, started their career with a bang, with catchy tracks such as Who Sold Her Out and Planet Earth, and the slower paced songs Driver and Liar complement them nicely.

Next came A Song Is A City three years later. Containing their (arguably) signature song From The Sea, as well as the singles Older Than You, Life Is Better With You and Smoke, it reached no.2 on the charts.

Their third album Black Fingernails, Red Wine was not only their darkest but their most successful to date. It was recorded during the time of the tragic attacks on the London tube system, and lead singer Kayven Temperley's girlfriend was there at the time. This set a tone for the album, with tracks like London Bombs, Suicide Girl, How Does It Feel and Setting Sun giving it a definite melancholic feel.

But all is well in 2009, with the May release of Inshalla things are mostly back to their merry best. With the Indian influenced Foreign Land as the first single, the catchy Losing Friends Over Love (With an awesome film clip, will post in the vids section) as the second and the almost 80's Don't Let Me Down as the third single, the album skyrocketed to no.1.

Without further ado, a few of my favourites from Youtube:

(strangely, this is the video from 'Driver', not sure how that happened...)

(ignore the crap video)

Hopefully he will. They haven't got a bad song on all four albums, yet they somehow have zero international notoriety.

You know the funny thing is I started listening to this band and by the third song I was like"Hey, I like these guys! I wonder what the other posters thought!" I scrolled down and then I saw your comments about me liking/hoping I like them! :lmao: I went from liking what I heard to loving after hearing Childhood Behavior! Loved that one! Great band Salmacis! I'm eying your threads from now on! :grinthumb

All Eskimo Joe fans should check out this brand new band, which I describe as an **** of Australian music! It's got Kav, the lead singer from Eskimo Joe, Josh Pyke, Bob Evans and Steve Parkin. Here is their debut single Waiting For You:

Big news! There is a new Eskimo Joe album on the way, and the new single is already a classic EJ tune! On first listen it took me a little while to recognise it was actually Eskimo Joe; Kav's voice seems to have changed a bit, but it's kinda like a retrospective of their previous 4 albums, it takes a little bit of influence from all of them. I like it though and am anxiously awaiting the album! :D
