And The Bands Played On is actually about them playing at Donnington, which would later become Download. It's great to see the band writing a song about the experience from the gig and play it 30 years later on the same venue.

Hey I didn't know that Nolo - cool! And the Bands Played On was actually the very first song I ever heard by Saxon, I recorded it off the radio when I was a teenager

It's a bloody insult that Saxon are always put on so low down on the main stage at Download. No wonder Biff says they might not play there again.

This album Wheels of Steel has me addicted to the music right away. I love the vocals and all too but this music is just amazing. Kinda dirty on myself for not discovering this band sooner.

Yeah i've always liked SAXON since first hearing 747 & The bands played on back in 1980.

I saw Oliver/Dawson SAXON 10 years ago in Camden Town north London and enjoyed there set very much.

Favourite song definitely is the groovy Machine Gun.

This band has produced some really good metal down the years with numbers like WHEELS OF STEEL, 747, AND THE BANDS PLAYED ON, DENIM & LEATHER, THE EAGLE HAS LANDED, DALLAS 1M, POWER AND THE GLORY and many more...

This band makes me proud to be English!!.
