The Dixie Chicks

Dixie Chicks Website

The Dixie Chicks are an American country trio powerhouse. Originally a bluegrass/country quartet who played small venues with little success, their first commercial breakout success came with a lineup change (sisters Martie and Emily Erwin remained) and the addition of vocal powerhouse Natalie Maines in 1998 and the release of their first album with the singer titled Wide Open Spaces. Three albums followed and the Chicks haven't looked back since, becoming the most commercially successful female group of all time and despite various political gaffes and controversies, they still retain that title and have achieved unparalled success in the country music realm in many respects.

Goodbye Earl

More Love (a personal favorite)

Not Ready to Make Nice (here's a song I think even a rock fan could appreciate, with less of a "country" sound to it and more into the pop realm)

I always had a healthy respect for the Dixie Chicks...and thought "Goodbye Earl" was a very good video.

This is one of their best live performances.

A couple more for the road:

The Chicks with Sheryl Crow performing Strong Enough, which has always been a top song for me. They do a great job.

Their cover of Fleetwood Mac's Landslide. I absolutely love this cover. It just works!

Haven't heard a peep from them in ages, are they still active or off raising families now?

I know they did a little touring with the Eagles last year, LG. I think a new album is in the works but yes they did take time out to be with their families.

I have their entire discography even the albums before Natalie . My favorite album is Wide Open Spaces.

Wide Open Spaces

The very first album by Dixie Chicks, which has been voted the #1 Texas Bluegrass album:

Good to see a thread on the Dixie Chicks. I'm a sucker for their music. LG posted what I was going to post. Travelin Soldier is probably my favorite song.

I saw them live several years ago, back when they were promoting their first breakthrough record. Very solid live group and I am a sucker for Natalie "Curves" Maines :)
