Tora Tora is a hard rock band formed in Memphis, TN in 1985. They started out as a local garage band then eventually got studio time when they won a local Battle of the Bands contest. Following this, the band recorded To Rock To Roll as an independent EP. After its release the songs "Phantom Rider" and "Love's A Bitch" received extensive airplay on local radio station Rock 98. After signing with A&M Records, they recorded their debut album "Surprise Attack" in 1989. This album peaked on Billboard's Top 200 at #47.

In 1992, their second album, Wild America, was released. It only achieved #134 on the Billboard charts and it did not sell as well, but, it was a more mature step at songwriting and features some great bluesy rock.

A third album, Revolution Day, was recorded in 1994, but it was never released due to label restructuring. After missing the due date, the band folded. This album has finally seen the light of day with an official release just this week.

A friend turned me onto Tora Tora.. I have Wild America and my favorite song by them in Amnesia.. A very underrated band that I wish there could have been more of..

I have both of their first two albums, but Wild America mysteriously disappeared many years ago. I gave up looking for a replacement a long time ago. It was a good album.

Their debut album was awesome! I used to play the shit out of that album. It's good from start to finish. It's too bad that Tora Tora didn't come out a bit sooner because I think they could have made a bit of a bigger impact within the music scene. Very underrated and talented band that just never got into the limelight like I thought they could have or should have.

I think Lynch will agree with me on this.... the "new" album is solid as a rock!!

Can only find one track on YT so far but it's a good one. :grinthumb

Another great thread, Tunez. I'm listening to Guilty and I'm hooked. :grinthumb

Guilty and Walking Shoes were probably the two single tracks off the debut album that i played the most, but the whole album was very good.

Phantom Rider was also a great ballady tune

And I love the guitar riffs and guitar tone in Hard Times
