I can't remember the last time i got so enthusiastic about a band.Piper at the gates of dawn has blew me away(the 3rd disc is amazing, love it).I bought Meddle and Obsured By Clouds yesterday, going to buy A Saucerful Of Secrets and More tomorrow.
You mentioned the 3rd disc of Piper? So you got the 40th anniversary editon with the mono singles and alternate versions of Matilda Mother and IO? Excellent. Glad you're enjoying it!You mentioned the 3rd disc of Piper? So you got the 40th anniversary editon with the mono singles and alternate versions of Matilda Mother and IO? Excellent.
Once you've heard all their studio work, get some of the live bootleg shows. They are amazing, powerful performances, quite different than what's put on the albums.
Actually a great place to start for live stuff is Ummagumma. It's a double album put out in 1969. One disc is live while the other one is studio. Excellent versions of Careful With That Axe, Eugene, Set The Controls For The Heart of the Sun, Saucerful of Secrets!

I know Christmas is long since passed, but I completely forgot about this one. And there are precious few cute, little Floyd tidbits that I just have to share it.I think it was LG who said that Pink Floyd are a band whose albums have to grow on you, and I agree. They definitley reveal more after repeated listenings. WYWH is quite a departure from DSOTM, much darker, sadder. Give it time.![]()
