Have you ever heard of Annie Haslam?

She was the lead singer for the best line-up of Renaissance, a prog/rock band from the early 70's. I like female vocalists a lot Bry, in fact it is a shame there are not more of them in rock music in general, they seem to usually end up in the Pop arena, which is too bad.

LG-I could introduce you to a lot of them LG. Few have the intimacy with their music that Tori does but plenty break the conventions of what pop is. I don't mind that Annie artist at all but I don't seem to be connecting to the vocals as much as I usually do. The background music is great. The song I listened to is The Young Prince and Princess.

Ob-I do have The Piano Collection. I dare say I have every physical release she has made except for Y Kant Tori Read, The Bootleg Boxsets and a couple remix EPs but I've at least downloaded those. Regretfully I can't see paying $300 for a used boxset as much as a loyal music buyer as I am!

Enjoyed reading that, thanks for sharing! If I had to pick my absolute favourite from Tori's albums it would be From the Choirgirl Hotel, and it contains two of my favourite Tori songs - Spark and Raspberry Swirl.

Tray, those two songs are epic Tori! My first concert was Tori during this era and I couldn't believe I was immersed in a crowd of fans that were acting like they were at a rock show and moving with such energy and movement to the songs. Raspberry Swirl was an excellent example of this! :grinthumb

Thanks RT! Threads like this when you are enamored with the artist are the hardest to do because you want to say so much. She's Your Cocaine was a grower for me but now I really dig it! :grinthumb

Great thread Soot:grinthumb

I didn't listen to all of them, but I definitely liked the three or four I listened to... I'll definitely check this one out in more detail:D

Wow, really awesome detailed and refined presentation here. Soot.
Your passion for Tori really shines through. She is an amazing artist and almost a bit too heart wrenching and emotionally honest to bare at times. I mean that in a very musically moving way and not as a dig. She far and a way is my favorite female artist even though I only have the first two CDs. I also have a couple of her DVDs, one of which is live footage, "Live From NY" and the other videos, "Little Earthquakes" .I love Crucify off that album by the way.

OK so you have given me the push I was needing to investigate her works farther and I am going to pick up From the Choirgirl Hotel. :cheers2

Awesome DKW! Interesting you should mention Live From New York as it's Tori at her rawest and it could potentially scare new listeners away! It's been a while since I only have it on VHS but I remembered one note that was very rough and she held it and even I felt it was a little jarring. That's he thing with Tori. She tried things and she challenged you. I always felt like I was getting something beautiful and authentic when I saw her live whether on film or in actual concert. Thanks for checking the review out! :grinthumb
