The Beatles are among the widely accepted example of a creative band. Especially during the leaps and bounds of Help to Revolver to Sgt. Peppers to The White Album.

Others that come to mind are King Crimson, Yes, Pink Floyd.

def going with Dinosaur Jr the more and more that I listen to them.

Combined sabbath like riffs with country twang janlge pop punk and noise rock and amazing guitar solos. some how they managed to make it work like crazy.

I'd say Dinosaur Jr.'s Without a Sound and Neil's Ragged Glory, Broken Arrow, Year of the Horse, Weld, and Greendale are all very reminiscent of each other. I'd say that's a good thing, personally. :grinthumb

I'd post youtube videos if the damned suits hadn't gotten rid of most of the Neil material on there. But tracks like Country Home, Big Time, and Falling From Above are definitely very similar to Without a Sound. 'Course two of those tracks were made after Without a Sound was.

I would grant Sepultura being the most influential Brazilian metal band of all time, but not the most in the genre.

Influential is another subjective term, what one person hears in a bands music another might interpret differently.

It is also fact that time and genre and commercial success are as much a part of being influential as any other factor.
