Seasick Steve Official Website

Albums:

Seasick Steve is a fairly new blues-rocker. He is originally from California but has spent a good part of his younger life as a "hobo". He picked up the guitar when he was 8 years old, and taught himself to play. At age 13, he ran away from home. He would hop on freight trains and travel all over, especially in the southern part of the USA. During his travels in the south, he picked up a lot of influence from blues artists, and has played with some of the best blues artists like Janis Joplin and Joni Mitchell.

Seasick Steve said:
Hobos are people who move around looking for work, tramps are people who move around but don't look for work, and bums are people who don't move and don't work. I've been all three

Then at some point he moved to Paris. Then finally landed in Norway where he recorded and released his first studio album in 2004. This first album he had a rhythm section backing him, called The Level Devils (Jo Husmo on stand-up bass and Kai Christoffersen on drums).

Seasick Steve is now a one man blues-rock band. Here is a live video of the above song where Seasick performs alone...I like him as a solo much better

Yes he is awesome! Too bad he had to begin his recording career so late in life. I would have loved to hear him when he was young, and full of fire and brimstone.

His second album release of 2006:

This album is his first solo, except for some percussion you will hear performed by his son.

I love this artist and have seen him a couple of times, I agree Magic, I would love to have seen him when he started. What a real character he is, he sure plays a mean tune.

I first caught Seasick Steve on the Jools Holland show a few years ago and was mega impressed.

Here he is with John Paul Jones, Jack White and Alsion Mosshart,
