I agree, that would be awesome, only if it was the original Van Halen with Michael Anthony on bass, and not Wolfgang. That would be huge.
And a new album and tour to follow.

If the original Van Halen lineup played the half time show I would actually be excited for the Super Bowl for the first time. I'd still watch it if Wolfgang was there, I just wouldn't be quite as excited.

I don't really keep up with who plays the Super Bowl half time shows (I was passing through the living room at the right time last year and watched the Who and I know Prince did it some time before that. That's about all I know) but assuming AC/DC hasn't played it yet (which would come as a shock to me) that'd seem like the right environment for them.

the original Guns N' Roses lineup. I know that is a reall long shot, but maybe for one show they can pull it off. As much as they play "Welcome to the Jungle" at sporting events it would only make sense to have them perform at the super bowl halftime show.

I wondered about that. I googled it, didn't find anything (although I didn't search past the first page). Just kept finding references to the sportscaster James Brown. If the other JB performed at a superbowl, I must've missed it.

EDIT: Just did some more googling, and found that ZZ Top and James Brown both performed at the same Superbowl, in 1997! And the Blues Brothers even played too. I'm sure I must've seen that one...boy, my memory has gotten bad.
