Good Charlotte is a pop punk band from Waldor, MD and debuted with their self titled album in 2000. Waldorf is a suburb of Washington DC and is where i grew up and currently live. I went to the same high school as them and had to listen to the chorus and guitar teacher rant about their talent. They had been out of the school for 2 years already when I started my freshman year.
I already know about them through seeing them a couple times at the only respectable club in Waldorf called my Brother's Place. At this time I thought they were a good band and had loads of potential. Their big break was opening for Lit. When they blew up with their hit "Little Things" off their self titled album thier was so much pride in them because they made it out of a crappy town that is waldorf. I looked at them like if they could make it then maybe there was a chance for me.

My opinion of them musically is they were at thier best with their self titled album. I also liked Young and the Hopeless. They fortunatley got caught up in the fame and started sleeping with MTV. They went down an emo path and eventually were known more for being on TMZ than for thier music.
Here are songs from the self titled album that I like.

I'm the opposite of you Greg! While not a huge fan of these guys I do have their material and thought they got better after Young and the Hopeless. After that they tried more things and became more diverse IMO! :D

:heheh: They were my first like "favorite" band.. I have their first three CD's I think they put out one more that I didn't buy, or listen to.. I wasn't into them anymore at the time.. They did write some catchy tunes, and no matter what image they went to, no one can take that from them:grinthumb

Ironically the first Good Charlotte drummer Arron auditioned to tour with me on my last tour. He was pretty good but, didnt fit the style that I was looking for.

I'm the same, The Young And The Hopeless was actually the first album I bought. I then got their debut, and their 3rd but lost interest after that!

I listened to them a lot in my last year of highschool and also have their first three cd's. I was also very tempted to get some tattoos but outgrew the temptation :heheh:

I liked the start when they were propperly punk but I think Joel and benjis heads have gone through an inflating proccess since then

Very much so. They were once just some small town punks just about 10 years ago
