Re: Official Tom Petty Thread
TP and the HB has been a favorite of mine since I saw them on a triple bill in 1978. The show was (respectively) David Johansen, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers and Journey. It was Journey's Infinity (breakout) tour and they owned the show.
Petty's biggest songs in those days were American Girl, Breakdown, I Need To Know and my all time personal favorite Petty tune Listen To Her Heart. I was 14 when I saw that show and I WISH TO GOD that I had been old enough to have the appreciation for those songs that I have today.
I'd discovered something new in that show and when Damn The Torpedoes released a little over a year later, it solidified my status as a Petty Fan.
To this day I proudly proclaim my Pettyness.
