Brave New World sounded ok when it came out but I haven't heard it for upwards of 20 years now.

It's in my top 5 Maiden albums personally. Has some of their best material and was a return to form after Virtual XI's mediocrity.

I'll tell ya, my top 5 Maidens albums stayed pretty much the same for 20 years or better, jostling around, with each one spending time at #1.

Then along came The Book Of Souls, and man, I was blown away.

The Man of Sorrows, Empire Of The Clouds, Tears Of A Clown, and Shadows Of The Valley are all crap, but the rest is spot on,

If I had a favorite Maiden album it would definitely be Powerslave due to having many of my favorite tracks by the band but if I told someone the quintessential Maiden album overall I'd recommend them Piece of Mind but tell 'em how good their punkish origins are in the first two albums with Di'Anno.

1. Powerslave
2. Piece of Mind
3. Killers
4. Seventh Son of a Seventh Son
5. Somewhere In Time

I am probably in a minority of one but I thought the Paul Di Anno lead Iron Maiden was great and gave the band a edgy street vibe just right for the NWOBHM movement in 1980-81 also I liked Paul's punk leanings set against the long hair, denim jackets and bullet belts of Harris & Murray in particular. The first two albums also have a great collection of songs that have stood the test of time.

Powerslave is great. All the albums in your top 5 one can't go wrong with.

With regards to Iron Maiden albums the few that I have heard from about the early 2000s onwards appear to all sound pretty much the same to me so consequently I don't bother to listen to the band anymore. I would say the albums from the 1980s until 1992s Fear Of The Dark are the only albums worth listening to. The two Blaze Bailey albums are 'so so' and the albums with Bruce and Adrian Smith back in the band are pretty bland to be honest.

Still Steve and the boys have all made a 'bank full of dosh' £££££$$$$$$ so have all done alright.

The way they continually got better and subtle sound tweaks in the 80s were to marvel at. Seventh Son is the epitome of probably their most progressive album at that time.

33 years since Maiden released the masterpiece that is Seventh Son of a Seventh Son. More progressive album in that period.

I don't play any 'Maiden' these days (unless it's either the two Paul Di Anno albums) but I personally thought Seventh Son was one of their better albums with Bruce.
