This album has a very interesting history because of Fed Cole, a punk rock legend. Cole was a pioneer and advocate for independent record labels . He believed bands should do things their way, not what a record label says to do. Cole was the owner of Whizeagle records, that not only recorded and released his own records, but he cut them, too, on the same lathe that cut the Kingsman’s “Louie Louie”.

Don’t expect this album to sound perfect…it sounds like it was recorded inside a tin can, but the guitar leads are vicious! I personally think Cole’s vocals on this album are horrible and sound very off key. IMHO, the only true salvageable song is Face of Stone.

However, despite my negative feelings about Zipper, it is still a piece of rock iconography that influenced many bands to come.
