F**king Nirvana, man.. what a craptastic (and overrated) band if there ever was one.
I was watching a show the other night and Bret Michaels was on and he talked about that song and how he came to write it.. He said. He made the call to his girlfriend and heard a guys voice in the back ground and pretty much didn't say anything and hung up..
The title he said meant.. The rose signifies his current success he was having with the band Poison and the thorn was the girl who broke his heart..
The good with the bad so to speak..
Well I "get" the song and think the lyrics are pretty descriptive. It works for me since I can relate to that situation.. I'll point this out even though it dosn't shine a good light on the band..
"Every Rose Has Its Thorn" is a power ballad/rock song by American glam metal band Poison. It was released in 1988 as the third single from Poison's second album Open Up And Say...Ahh!. It is the band's first and only number-one hit in the U.S., reaching the top spot on Christmas Eve in 1988 for three weeks (carrying over into 1989). It was a #13 hit in the UK. "Every Rose Has Its Thorn" was named number 34 on VH1's "100 Greatest Songs of the 80's", #100 on their "100 Greatest Love Songs" and #3 on their " Top 25 Power Ballads" by MTV and VH1.
