That's a tough one since there were many great bands from both LA and Frisco back then.
Byrds, Jefferson Airplane, Doors, Buffalo Springfield, Santana, Quicksilver, Grateful Dead and as mentioned above CCR. They were, among some others, in my record collection in the 60's.
I loved them all but I suppose if forced to pick one it might be Jefferson Airplane on the strenghth of
Surrealistic Pillow, Crown of CReation, and Volunteers.
Always a fan of heavy psychedelic rock this was the epitomy of that for me.........a progressive blend of rock, jazz, psych and folk. Some of the best lyrics ever in rock...period.
