Who's my favorite late 60s west coast band?
Creedence Clearwater Revival. Easily. There are just so many songs they recorded that I enjoy. I dare you to resist singing along when a song is played.

CCR hands down and by a mile.

If you take the factor of longevity out of it, it could be argued that they were the greatest American Rock band period.

That's a tough one since there were many great bands from both LA and Frisco back then.
Byrds, Jefferson Airplane, Doors, Buffalo Springfield, Santana, Quicksilver, Grateful Dead and as mentioned above CCR. They were, among some others, in my record collection in the 60's.
I loved them all but I suppose if forced to pick one it might be Jefferson Airplane on the strenghth of
Surrealistic Pillow, Crown of CReation, and Volunteers.
Always a fan of heavy psychedelic rock this was the epitomy of that for me.........a progressive blend of rock, jazz, psych and folk. Some of the best lyrics ever in rock...period.

I think Crown of Creation is the most LSD of albums. Absolutely drips in it

Moby Grape. I had their vinyl back in the day. I guess I still do. I bought their double CD a while back. Steve Miller Band was great back then before their more commercial music. Of course, all the others like Airplane, Quicksilver, as mentioned.
