What's YOUR Dio song - and why?!

For me it's from Mob Rules - Over and over:

 

[Cosmic Harmony]

Hate to go for the obvious but "Heaven and Hell" is the song I most associate with Ronnie. It was the first song I really listened to by him and is still my favorite.

I have to think about this, Flip. There are so many songs I just love by Dio and at my age I have a long history and a ton of memories wrapped up in his music. I will have a hard time just picking one song.

For me - and Over and Over - it's because Mob Rules is my favourite Sabbath/Dio album. And the lyrics of the song got to me right off... and Tony's multiple soloes... and the heaviness.... not many songs get to me the same way Over and Over does.

I was lucky enough to hear this album when I was quite young - I guess 12-13 or so... and it just stuck with me big time. I've listened to everything else Dio's been involved with but dang it - this one song just makes it all alright.

With Sabbath "Falling Off The Edge Of The World"-cos that middle part between the slow part and the fast part is simply amazing!! The stuff nightmares are made of.



With DIO,"Strange Highways" cos it sounds like a Sabbath track.

I am going to pick here, but will probably kick myself later for the choice.

I am going to go back before Black Sabbath, to the Rainbow years. This is the first song I have recollection of hearing by Dio, and I can remember having a "helluva good party time" to this song on more than one occasion This was also a favorite for "air guitar" playing, too .....

Stargazer. I was 14 when it came out, saw some older guys who just bought the album. Asked them what they bought and they told me if I liked some good rock music I should buy it. I did, the same afternoon. Been a favorite ever since.

Even if I don't have the voice, it's fantastic to scream along.
