Motley on their "The End" Tour. Worst concert i've ever been too. Thank god Alice Cooper was on the line up.

Motley had never been here (New Zealand) before but they just went through the motions without ANY of the show they put on worldwide. Vince was horrible, they were using backing tracks for his vocal on a couple of songs. They really phoned it in. the sound was horrible too, all bottom end. When Mick did his guitar solo I was ready to walk to be honest. I feel for the guy, but it was just noise.

I'd never seen Alice, but in his 50 minute set he blew my mind. Just a brilliant performer who selected the set list perfectly. I'vs always loved Alice so it was a treat.

I have loved Motley since Shout at the Devil, I love Nikki and respect him and I love Sixx AM, but this gig was shameful.

The wife and I went to see Hootie and the Blowfish for out 33rd wedding anniversary in August.

I couldn't care less about them, but she loves them, so I got the tickets. They weren't bad.

Collective Soul opened.

My favorite Hootie and The Blowfish story goes like this:
On 1976, the rock band Boston set a record with the highest selling debut album which held until 1987 and Guns N Roses Appetite For Destruction broke the record and became the highest selling debut album. Then in 1994 Hootie and The Blowfish released their debut album Cracked Rear View which then went on to become the highest selling debut album.
Hootie and The Blowfish people. Ahmigad!

My wife and I took our daughter and friend to a Billie Eilish concert recently. It was entertaining. Another one of these concerts where the audience is made up of many of the girls dressed like boys and some of the boys dressed like girls. I don’t particularly like most of her songs and have no interest in her as a person or musical artist but this production was really good. Sophisticated lighting and visuals all throughout the show. Electronic and live instruments and captivating stage presence from Billie. Our seats were not good as we had some limits of course with how much we wanted to spend. I don’t regret spending the money; I know my daughter sang along with every song and loved seeing Billie.
The opening act was two brothers Alex and Nate Wolfe. I can’t remember. Again, not my type of music in general but a few of their performances had my body moving with rhythm.

I went to another show with my daughter and niece recently. The opening act was a band called Sunday 1994. Definitely lo-fi, Indie, shoegazer music but they left a positive impression on me. Her voice reminded me of Julia Lewis or Juliana Hatfield often but the sound was softer, slower, and whispy. Is it a prerequisite that all Indie bands play a Fender Jaguar of some sort?
Now, granted, the great majority of the audience of the show were young females but the energy and optimism of the crowds seems to be a little different than when I was their age. Often many of these girls will sing along and move to even the pre-concert music. Especially when it is a popular song. I mean, think back to when you were 17 or 19. Do you ever remember much of the audience singing and dancing together along to the music being played before the concert started?
The main act was Girl In Red. Again, another Indie pop/rock singer/songwriter of a particular style and common sound. My daughter usually has command of the music when she rides in the car with us so I am vaguely familiar with a few of her songs. Mentally, she is a wreck but harmless it seems. I am not making fun of it, it was just strange at times how often her show would sort of be interrupted by her jumping off the rails in between songs. The audience was behind her the entire show and very supportive and even entertained by her manic depression showing through.
Anyway, we ended the night with everyone having a lot of fun and with me gaining appreciation for the bands Sunday 1994 and Girl In Red. If you like Independent pop music, check them out sometime if you have not already.
