Started playing Skyrim a few weeks ago. Haven't had a lot of time to put into it (well, not as much as I'd like). Playing through from scratch and going a different route than I've ever gone before. Kind of just staying away from the Dragonborn stuff, other than the first handful of quests. I played up to the point that I have to meet some dude up in Solitude (or something like that) to get into the High Elf party. I stopped anything with Dragonborn at that point. I'll come back to it later, maybe.

I did go full-bore through The Companions for the first time, got the wolf bite, etc. I've gone into wolf mode a couple of times, but I haven't figured out a way to get out if it (and am too lazy to look it up). Ran around in Whiterun during the day, which immediately attracts the attention of every guard in town. Just ripped them to shreds. Pretty cool and fun to do in every town once in a while (clearing out the guards and the snotty townspeople). Then I revert to a previous save point and go about my normal business. Anyway, it's been kind of fun leveling up some of the professions where I normally skipped them before (other than recreational leveling). Got Blacksmithing to 100 now. Enhancing weapons via BS elixir, and wearing gear that boosts your BS'ing makes for some damn fine weapons and armor.

Alchemy can eat a dick. What a slow as hell prof to level.

The other thing I've been doing is I finally decided to play some of the Hearthfire stuff. Building a house from scratch, gathering a bazillion materials to build it, etc. It's a time sink, but still kind of cool to do.

Character-wise, I'm playing what I play best. Not sure what the proper term is for it, but a stealth-archer. Killing shit from afar is so cool once you get the weapons and skills to do some real damage. Double-daggers up close, but I tend to use a bow on probably 90% or more of all encounters.

Even though some aspects of the game are starting to look a bit dated, it's still a lot of fun to play. Can't wait for Skyrim 6, whenever the hell that comes out (2023 maybe... if we're lucky?)

This scene.... I love this. I've played both sides of this quest, I don't think it makes a lot of difference in the long run or in the overall story which way you go with it.

But seeing this picture, it always makes me laugh when one of the guards in Whiterun starts talking about the dudes on the ground here...

"you see those warriors from Hammerfell?
    They've got curved swords.
    Curved.
    Swords
    !"

    :heheh:

this is how they normally look when I do that quest.

Have to sink some money into my PC to get it decent again, but I have Far Cry 5 waiting patiently for me, and Red Dead redemption 2 is supposed to be out for PC finally. Will check that out for sure. Hard to find time anymore to play.

I would have swore that RDR2 came out a year ago (or more) on PC as well as both of the two console systems.

I've never played it, but I know some here have. Heard both good and bad things about it. It sure made a crapload of money right off the bat.

Western open world games are pretty rare for the PC, so I am happy to get anything. And tbh, how bad can it be..I even loved LA Noir.

When you are stuck in frickin Saskatchewan, 1940s LA, even a pixeled version, is pretty mind blowing. I have to get out more.
