Yeah... correct E-Z, and Ireland kicked him out because the 3 piece didn't fit the paddies musical brief... what I also admired was throughout the whole of the troubles in Northern Ireland... he returned every Christmas to do a concert.... the avoidence
by a certain Ivan Morrison was duly noted.
Ted McKenna did well on several Rory albums too.
I once read a uplifting piece by a rock journalist who attended a Rory Gallagher concert in Belfast in the early 1970s who said that the afternoon of the concert several bombs had already gone off around the city but Rory didn't cancel the gig and at show time when he ran out on stage the place erupted to huge cheers with people on both sides of the religious divide together as one for 2 hours it was truly a memorable occasion.

When Rory died I read that Van 'the man' Morrison claimed that Rory was a close personal friend.

Nice one Nai I use to like those Polydor Rare and Medium Rare vinyl sampler albums from the early 1970s
