In short a five piece and sometimes a four piece Welsh progressive rock band formed in late 1968 and who were into the US sounds of west coast bands like The Quicksilver Messenger Service and especially it's leader guitarist & vocalist John Cipollina who toured and played with the band during the 1974-75 era. The band released a number of studio albums during the early/mid 1970s although Maximum Darkness a live album featuring John Cipollina from The Quicksilver Messenger Service is regarded as a good live album to pick up and listen to. The band disbanded during 1976 but re-formed again in 1983 and then recorded on and off for another decade into the 1990s.

A small number of musicians passed through the band during the late 1960s and early/mid 1970s but the musicians that I am more familiar with were Micky Jones guitar & vocals, Deke Leonard guitar, keyboards & vocals, Martin Ace bass & Terry Williams drums. Dave Edmunds guitarist and producer and 1950s rock & roll aficionado had an association with this band during the 1970s and Terry Williams went on to join Dave Edmunds & Nick Lowe in Rockpile in the late 1970s. Micky Jones & Deke Leonard have subsequently passed away in recent years.

If you can find it there is a nice little 60 minutes live concert dvd available from the German Rockpalast television series that was filmed in 1975 and featuring Micky Jones, Deke Leonard, Martin Ace & Terry Williams that is worth watching.

I have been re-watching the MAN dvd of the band playing Rockpalast on West Germany television in 1975 and it's an enjoyable 60 minutes worth of solid rock from this Welsh band. The band featured are Micky Jones lead guitar & vocals, Deke Leonard guitar/keyboards & vocals, Martin Ace bass & Terry Williams drums.

The set list-
1.7171-551
2.Hard Way To Die
3.C'mon
4.Someone Is Calling
5.A Hard Way To Live
6.Many Are Called But Few Get Up

Below a Melody Maker article on MAN from October 1973-
