Ladies and gentlemen...Warren Zevon, the great excitable boy, one of the most tragically overlooked figures in rock 'n roll history. He came across like the mutant offspring of Bob Dylan and Iggy Pop, and could play piano like few in rock music.
Known mostly for his big (over-rated...but still fun) hit, 'Werewolves of London', Zevon appropriately popped up right between the big singer-songwriter movement of the early 70's and the punk rock era. He was mainly known for his wry sardonic wit, writing songs filled to the brink with black sarcastic humor.
He lived a wild life, wrote many great songs, and eventually succumbed to cancer after recording 3 mortality themed albums (one of which was written/recorded before he even knew anything was wrong with him).
Albums:
1969 Wanted Dead or Alive
1976 Warren Zevon
1978 Excitable Boy
1980 Bad Luck Streak in Dancing School
1982 The Envoy
1987 Sentimental Hygiene
1989 Transverse City
1991 Mr. Bad Example
1995 Mutineer
2000 Life'll Kill Ya
2002 My Ride's Here
2003 The Wind
Do we have any fans here?
Figured out the video thing thanks to a mod...here are some of my favorite non-Werewolves Zevon songs...
