Living Colour has been touring California since Wednesday, March 27th, playing the complete 1988 release VIVID, with their LA stop last night at the El Rey theatre and the show was INCREDIBLE. I want to say that Vernon Reid is playing better NOW than back then! It was certainly a surprise to hear that Cory Glover's pipes are still intact after all these years. He looks more like Bill Cosby than he did the front man of one of the most revered all-African American Metal bands in recorded music. But don't let the sweater fool you... Those guys brought the heat last night, and I was amazed I only paid $30 a ticket for entry. The house was packed! Will Calhoun has not lost a step either, with his signature cymbal work that sealed the deal.

Easily one of the most memorable concerts I've ever attended, and it was so informal. No silly video effects. No extras. Just pure music. And listening to the crowd sing along to the classics was absolutely magical. I hope that as they continue to play out, some of you will get the chance to see their upcoming shows. Their Facebook page will have all the details.

By far one of the best gigs this year, here's my footage from the Vancouver, Canada show.

Living Clolour - Preachin' Blues (Robert Johnson cover).

Living Colour - Desperate People.
