What a welcome reminder of this wonderful artist. From his early stuff with Them to his later albums, Van always delivered. My favourites would include Astrral Weeks, Hard Nose The Highway, Veedon Fleece, Tupelo Honey, Moondance, St Dominics Preview and even the more commercial Avalon Sunset and Enlightenment.
A grumpy, unlikable man, he has a way with words that makes you overlook all his faults. The real deal.

Very true analysis recgord27!
There are not many like him (Dylan, Bill Nelson.. maybe?) who view themselves as artists... and feel the pain for there labours. Often disliking their past work(as did Cpt Beefheart.)
He did a street concert in his native Belfast a while back... and actually conversed with the audience!
I enjoy his fusion of all things, still play his 8 tracks in the shop.
