Re: The Official Van Halen Thread

I really enjoyed the debut album when it first came out! The combination of the excellent original songs and the cover tunes along with the fantastic music was terrific! I also like the next two albums quite a lot as well!

A couple more songs that rock!

What could I possibly say about Van Halen that hasn't been said already?

Van Halen's debut is one of the best albums of the 70's period. I have already mentioned that the first time I heard "Running With The Devil" in the Kelly's record store, me and just about everyone else bought a copy right there,,,I think the vinyl albums were still warm in fact...:grinthumb

Somewhere I have a 'bootleg' from before Van Halen 1 ever came out (about 1976 if I'm not mistaken). Not a great recording, but it's fun to listen to once in a while. Some of the songs from their first album are on it, as well as a couple of cover tunes. I haven't listened to that for years. Might have to dig it out and check out the track listing.

I wonder if it is Zero...They did have like 4 recordings before the debut, but 3 of them were un-named, I think. I would have to double check that info :D

Edit: They had more than 4...lol....they also made some home recordings when they were still in High School at Pasedena High

I've only got one. I don't think it was named, but I could be wrong. I just know
it was live in front of an audience and it sounds like it was recorded on one of these:
