VAIN are a glam metal band formed in San Francisco in 1986 by talented vocalist Davy Vain. In 1989 they released a very impressive debut one of the finest Glam metal albums ever !! "No secrets"
In 1991 "Grunge" started to happen,VAINs record label Island collapsed before they could release their 2nd album.A few band members left....they changed the name of the band to ROADCREW briefly
In 1993 VAIN reformed to release "Move on it" [Japanese only release]
By 2000 Davy Vain recorded a solo album "in from out of nowhere" and found work as a record producer.
In 2005 VAIN started to tour again released the "On the line" album

Its got to be the BANGLES Iggy.....they were babes!!!!
Ahhhh the 80s glam rock produced some "pretty boy glam bands" Poison ,Tigertailz ,Pretty Boy Floyd,Stryper.....and VAIN...who probably lived up to their name. Great times...great bands...I think I dyed my hair red like Davy Vain in my day and had cowboy boots with spurs....what a poseur
Then in contrast there was always Twisted Sister............

I have heard a few of their albums, courtesy of a mate of mine who is completely obsessed with glam, but they didn't really do much for me to be honest

LOU it's been a while since I've listened to glam metal. Brings back some good memories.

Vain rocks right up there with the Crue and the L.A. Guns.

I guess we go through stages....80s glam metal hasnt been on my playlists for a while...not that I ever fell out with it. There were some really great bands.I just happened to play the "No respect" VAIN album the other day and it reminded me how GOOD this band are.
Check out these brilliant tunes done a bit more recently......hes still go it
I love the DELANY track a rework of an old VAIN song !!!
